So I haven't blogged in like 6 months.... I think it was mostly due to the fact that when I was able to log some computer time I was busy stalking all the other blogs and not my own. I see from my activity that I still have some loyal "followers" and for that I thank you and dedicate this update to you, you and all the others who accidentally found this place googling something freaky on google images.
A lot has happened in the last six months....
She turned 18.....
18 PEOPLE !!!!! when the heck did that happen ?!?!? I mean I barely remember giving birth to her,,,, the fact that I didn't, really isn't the point here. The point is that she will graduate in just a few short weeks and in a few short months be off to collage. And that my friends really blows. One one hand I'm very excited for her and all the things that she is going to get to experience, but on the other, I soooooooo do not want her to leave. Not sure what I am going to do around her without her. She will be leaving me all alone with the 13-year-old-I-think-I-know-everything-just-ask-me-BOY. AND her dog who HAS to be all up in your grill every waking moment.
Big Daddy turned the big FIVE-OH.
And I made sure that ALL the neighbors knew it.
And I turned 39 .... again.....
I also got to spend my Birthday weekend scrapbooking witht hese lovely ladies....
We had a great time even if Shelia's blanket did smell like massage oil.
We Had Christmas at KiKi's.....
And this year we got a SPECIAL visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
When I knew they were on the way I kept telling Ben (my 2 year old Nephew ) to look out the window and see if Santa was here yet.... he would look and then say in his cute little voice "no,, not here.." And when he looked that last time and saw Santa staring back at him thru the window, the look on his face was priceless !! And it was the best part of Christmas this year... It was Awesome.
Thanks Bill and Sharon. You guys rock.
While on Christmas "vacation" we got to spend some time with this guy.
He will be FIVE next month and is so much fun. His quote of the week was "Papa there is not enough room in this bed for you. You will be fine on the couch" (that was his way of saying that he wanted to sleep in our bed with me. And Papa could sleep on the couch.
He cracks us up... And in late September early October he will be joined by TWINS !! Yes, Lindsay, Karl's oldest is pregnant with twins!! We are so excited and we are hoping for girls. She is going to find out what they are (that sounds so dumb "what they are" we know what they ARE, they are babies) but she is going to find out the sex of the babies so when she does I'll share... I hope that I'm going to have to start stocking up on LOTS of PINK !
Coop and I also had some fun making these rootbeer raindeer for all the neighborhood boys this Christmas....
Lauren had 2 Dances......
The Boyfriend is already history but she had a great time at the dance.
I spent a lot of time this winter at the Skate park with Coop and his buddies.... mostly Jack and Ben went with us ....
I sit and watch movies on my I Pad....
And Jackie drinks lots of slushies....
They got to meet Tony Hawk and that was pretty cool....
This is Tony Hawk high - fiving Ben & Coop ...
This is Tony Hawk telling me to move out of his way with my stupid camera so he can skate.
Whatever Tony Hawk. Your like 52 whatta gonna do ? Kick my ass? I think not old man.
Speaking old men,,, mine did a lot of this this winter.....
This was what it looked like when we opened up our front door the morning of the record setting snow storm that hit the Chicago area. "Snowmageddin " as I like to call it. Based on the news coverage you would have thought it was the end of man kind. There wasn't a loaf of bread or gallon of milk to be found in a tri county area. Everyone was snowed in for just under 2 days... they were all inside eating milk soaked bread.
We have had A LOT of winter around these here parts this year. Way more than normal, way more than average and in my opinion, way more than is necessary. I am even looking forward to those seasonal allergies kicking in because at least that means I wont be freezing my ass off anymore.
Even the dogs are tired of this . They take about 2 steps outside the door and say "screw it, Im not walking out in the fricken snow anymore. I'm peeing right here I don't care if it is on the sidewalk ."....... and I cant say I blame them.
I have been completely obsessed with the "nesting blogs" you know the re decorating, painting, "fun things you should try to do in YOUR house" blogs..... So I have been up to my ass in alligators of "projects"...
I turned this nice-bones-but-in-bad-shape hutch ...
Into this..... I would have never thought to paint the inside had I not seen it on one of those 100 or so blogs....
I took this $ 2.00 yard sale find that Coop and I picked up...
And I painted her and distressed her and now she lives in my dining room.....
One of those fabulous blogs gave me the "inspiration" to change our hallway / landing form this:
To this: ahhhhhhhhh MUCH better no??
And these funny shaped 1/2 walls from this :
To this:
All that sanding, priming, painting, caulking, painting... was a B-I-T-#-* but it was sooo worth it.
Oh, and also? Big Daddy surprised us all (even me) with a trip to Disney For Christmas. We left mid January and it was WONDERFUL! I can't believe he even surprised ME (its hard to do)....
And the ironic thing is that these pictures of our trip is what inspired me to go on the Atkins Diet the first of February. I was horrified at how many chins I could count and how I had suddenly become one of those moms who SHOULD NOT wear shorts..... whaaaaa??? when did that happen?? The diet is not bad and it has been very easy to stick to, I have lost 13 lbs so far and feel like the scale may even move a bit more in the coming weeks as I have broken down and started to exercise. For me that is the hardest part. I am a self admitted lazy ass. And I absolutely HATE to sweat. Exercising is the how I'm pretty sure I am going to spend eternity because it is hell. But I am determined to loose another 15 to 20 lbs and I'm afraid diet alone is not gonna get me there..... I do have to say though this diet is not hard to follow... it is the ONLY thing I have EVER stuck to for more than a week... no carbs... no sugar... it's really not as bad as it sounds. Except for the time I almost OD'd on bacon........ Karl is now doing it and lost 10 lbs in like 3 weeks. Did I mention I hate him?
Well,,, I think that about covers it.
Consider yourselves updated.
Before I go, I must share the following video,,,, it makes me wet my pants almost every time I watch it. And "Honey Badger don't give a shit" is a common statement around this house now. (Thanks Cathi!)
Enjoy!
Peace and Love.
